This thesis, currently in progress, explores the phenomenological qualities of thresholds and how these can be reinterpreted and utilised to engage the human body, strengthening relationships between the body and architecture.
Installation
This installation scale experimented with the concept of deformation and reformation of existing qualities of ‘edge’ spaces, aiming to create an architectural body through the sensual qualities of explored threshold spaces, utilizing changing perspectives as a tool to prompt bodily movement.
Mid-Scale
The mid-scale explores the relationship between architectural thresholds and movement through space, aiming to explore translation of sensual/ephemeral qualities into architecture using thresholds to develop a strong bodily connection to urban space through perception and movement.
Public-Scale
The Public-Scale challenges the design explorations translated from the installation to the Mid-Scale, integrating site, programme and structure, building on the results of the previous concept.
